The Meaning Behind Citra

The Story

Behind the Name

Citra takes its name from Maison Citröhan, a prototype home designed by the French‑Swiss architect Le Corbusier nearly a century ago. This model explored how technology and innovation could help meet the growing demand for housing—a challenge that feels especially close to home for us.

Modern white building with bold curved roof edges painted blue and yellow, set against a clear blue sky with minimal clouds. Large windows and clean lines give it a contemporary, minimalistic look.
Le Corbusier believed that homes could be efficient, affordable, and uplifting at the same time. His ideas reshaped modern architecture and showed that progress in housing comes from rethinking how homes are designed, built, and experienced.

A Legacy That Shapes Our Work

By choosing the name Citra, we honour that legacy while shaping our own. Like Maison Citröhan, our work is driven by the belief that better building technology can expand what’s possible—enabling homes and neighbourhoods that are accessible, future‑focused, and designed for the way people live now.

The Symbol That Carries the Name

Le Corbusier’s name for Maison Citröhan played on the citrus family of words—evoking clarity, precision, and a new model for living. Our symbol builds on that lineage, expressing the same qualities through a simple, modern form.
Our mark takes the shape of a lemon cross‑section: representing both nature’s geometry and structural strength. Its segmented form reflects the balance of light, structure, and longevity that guides our approach to design.
But the circle holds a deeper resonance. Its form references the kraal, one of humanity’s earliest and most enduring expressions of home and community. By merging the geometry of nature with the ancient concept of the kraal, our symbol represents Citra’s ultimate goal: creating places of gathering, safety, and belonging that support the lives built within them.
